You should want to know her name — because she won’t stop fighting until you get paid the same as a man.

After Senate Republicans blocked a measure this week to close the wage gap — she called on women to — “Put on your lipstick, square your shoulders, suit up and let’s fight for this new American Revolution where women get equal pay for equal work. ”

At 75, she is the longest serving woman in the Senate… And earlier this year became the longest serving woman in the entire U.S. Congress.

She’s a social worker turned community activist turned elected official — who’s been battling for women’s health, women’s research, women’s rights her entire career.

She’s now Dean of the Women in the Senate, mentoring younger women who follow in her footsteps.

For always fighting for us — and for not giving up until we are no longer paid 77 cents for every dollar a man makes..

Senator Barbara Mikulski or Senator Barb as she’s called — is the iVillage Woman of the Week.

For iVillage, I’m Kelly Wallace.
