Peace be to you all! I wanted to speak on the topic of sexism and gender roles in the medical field. Women are coming to the forefront of medicine and starting to hold positions that used to be dominated by men (e.g. heads of Surgery, Hospital CEOs, Medical program directors, etc.). Similarily, there is a rapidly growing number of men in fields like Nursing and Nurse Practioners, that are becoming more prominent. Is there still sexism in medicine and the allied health field? Is it a problem? What can be done to curb it? The Physician Assistant profession is now dominated by women according to the latest statistics (almost 70% female while almost 30% men). How might this shape the image and/or functioning of the profession (once solely dominated by men)? I look forward to your thoughts! If you have an interest in the medical/allied health field, fitness, science, education, or positive living, I would like to invite you to subscribe to my channel. Peace!
