Is The Term ''Housewife'' Sexist?

A journalist has called the term ‘housewife’ sexist because it implies that women are submissive – and suggests men can’t do the same role.

Eleanor Mills, who is Editorial Director of The Sunday Times, argued that the term makes it seem as though women are defined by their marriage and their husbands.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said that changing the word to a more assertive titles – such as ‘domestic CEO’ or ‘home front commander’ – would encourage more men to be stay at home dads, because it makes the role sound less submissive.
