In this video, UNICEF Ambassador Lucy Liu visits an underfunded Syrian refugee camp in Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. This is no place for children. This is where disease spreads. Scabies, fleas, and lice infestations are rampant in this camp. The camp is also under threat of a deadly cholera outbreak.
The children and the people in this camp need food and immediate medical care. It’s almost impossible to prioritize one need over another because everything is so interconnected – water and sanitation, education, protection from abuse and exploitation, healthcare.
Right now, though, there are over 150,000 Syrian children in Lebanon and they are not in school. They are playing in waste, in rubble, and in garbage. These kids desperately want to go to school. And we can help them. We can give them that very basic need. This is not a dream, but it is for them and it shouldn’t be. This is a children’s crisis, and it is getting worse:
Every child deserves a childhood and — with your help – UNICEF can help. Donate today:
