Moves to curb the rise in domestic violence in Russia have stalled as the coronavirus pandemic has taken hold and forced couples to stay together.
Shelters have closed because of lockdown and moving around cities is difficult because of restrictions.
One woman, who lost her hand when she was attacked by her husband, is campaigning to re-criminalise domestic violence in the country. But she faces strong opposition from conservative, orthodox forces who hold political, powerful sway.
